Shoes for Orphan Souls 014The Gallatin Rotary Club donated its collection of 75 pairs of new shoes for Buckner International’s Shoes for Orphan Souls during the recent Rotary District 6040 “Shoes Caravan” conducted on May 4.

In partnership with the other 54 Rotary Clubs in Missouri Rotary District 6040, a total of 11,332 pairs of shoes, 1,315 pairs of socks and nearly $16,000 were collected for international orphans in the Dominican Republic.  This humanitarian aid was collected during the multi-stop Shoes Caravan, starting in Blue Springs, MO on April 27 and ending in Parkville, Missouri on May 4.

“Kyle Parkhurst, president of the Gallatin Rotary Club said, “As Rotarians, we want to provide service to our local community and to people in need around the world. Donating shoes is so simple, but it makes such a big impact in the lives of needy children.  I appreciate all the work and time our members donated to this project.”

Thanks to Foster Shoe Store in Gallatin for helping with project.  Pictured is Reta Rains delivering the shoes to Larry Lunsford and John Gill at a stopping point in Chillicothe on May 4.
